Ernst Goldenbaum

Ernst gold tree (* December 15 1898 in Parchim; † 13 March 1990 in Berlin) was chairman of the DBD and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the GDR.

Life

Goldbaum was after visiting the elementary school from 1913 to 1917 farm workers. He was wounded as a soldier in World War I and took part in the November Revolution in Schwerin. Until 1927 he was industrial workers, then to 1932 editor of the Communist Party newspaper " Volkswacht ". In addition, he served as Academic Director of the District Party School.

Goldbaum joined the USPD in 1919 and soon entered on the KPD, where he was a member of the Mecklenburg County line. 1923 to 1925 he was a city councilor from Parchim and 1924-1926 and 1929-1932 member of the Landtag of Mecklenburg -Schwerin.

After 1933 he lived as a farmer in Parchim. He was repeatedly arrested for illegal activity, and came in 1944 in the Neuengamme concentration camp. He was one of the few survivors of the sinking of the Cap Arcona, the SS had driven the prisoners at war's end.

After his return in 1945 he was employed by the Soviet city commander in Parchim immediately as mayor. In the autumn of 1945 he moved to the post of managing director of the National Commission for the land reform, initiated the influential Communist John Warnke. Until 1949 he worked as a department manager in the Mecklenburg Department of Agriculture. The Communist gold tree in 1946 by the forced merger of the SPD and KPD member of the SED. He was a member from January 1946, the KPD land line and later the SED state board. 1946-1947 served as state chairman of the Gold Tree VdgB. 1946 to 1952 he was member of parliament in Mecklenburg parliament. In 1948 he was seconded to the SED, which was founded at the behest of SMA Peasant Party DBD, which should win and weaken the potential of the bourgeois parties, the CDU and LDP the rural population for socialism. Ernst gold tree was a founding member and was chairman of the All Party 1948 until 1982.

1949-1950 gold tree was Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. In the People's Chamber, he was from 1950 to 1958 Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Forestry, 1950-1963 Vice President and Member of the Presidium until 1976. 1976 to 1982 he was Deputy Chairman of the State Council and, from 1982 Honorary Chairman of the DBD.

He was married to Kate Goldbaum (1919-1994) and had two daughters.

Awards

Gold tree was in 1955 with the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver and gold in 1958, 1969 awarded the Grand Star of Friendship of Nations and 1973 with the Karl -Marx- Orden. In 1965 he received an honorary Clasp to the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.
