Ernst Heinrich Lindemann

Ernst Heinrich Lindemann ( born January 25, 1833 in Kirchlengern; † May 8, 1900 in Dusseldorf ) was a German politician.

Life

During his studies, he became in 1851 a member of the Bonner fraternity Franconia. Between March 21 1859 and 1 September 1868, he was mayor of food. Subsequently, he was a Director with the West German insurance joint-stock bank. From 1873 he was employed at the Bochum club for cast-steel of Friedrich Grillo. Between 1878 and 1886 he was mayor of the city of Dortmund and then to 1899 the city of Dusseldorf. In his tenure as Mayor of Düsseldorf, the takeover of the tram fell in urban hand, the system Ost Park and the Public Garden and the acquisition of the Grafenberg forest. The clashes with the Düsseldorf district president for the purchase of the forest area in the east of the city led to Lindemann's resignation. The following year, Ernst Heinrich Lindemann died at the age of 67 years. His grandson was the naval officer Ernst Lindemann, commander of the battleship Bismarck.

In Dusseldorf and Dortmund Kreuzviertel the Lindemann street is named after him.
