Ernst Immanuel Bekker

Ernst Immanuel Bekker ( born August 16, 1827 in Berlin, † June 29, 1916 in Heidelberg) was a German lawyer and university professor.

Life

Bekker studied law in Heidelberg, where he joined the Corps Saxo - Borussia joined. After he was first employed in the general judicial service. In 1853 he habilitated at the Martin- Luther -University Halle -Wittenberg for Roman Law. There, he was Associate Professor from 1855 until he was appointed in 1857 as full professor at Greifswald. In 1874, he finally returned to Heidelberg. In 1886 he was Vice-Rector of the University of Heidelberg. In 1908 he became Professor Emeritus. In Heidelberg he remained until his death.

In addition to work on Roman law Bekker wrote primarily philosophical treatises and scientific considerations.
