Ernst Schweninger

Ernst Schweinger ( born June 15, 1850 in Frey city; † January 13, 1924 in Munich) was a German physician and physician and medical historian.

Life

Schweinger studied in Munich since 1866, in 1870 an assistant to Ludwig von Buhl, 1875 habilitation at the University of pathological anatomy and began in 1879 an extensive practical medical work among others to the then newly established district hospital in the estate of large light field near Berlin.

After he had succeeded in the complete cure of the Chancellor Prince Otto von Bismarck, he was appointed in 1884 professor at the Berlin University, was appointed as an associate member of the Health Department and the Director of the Department of Dermatology at the Charité. In 1886 he built a sanatorium in Heidelberg for treating fat addict after a Kurmethode, the Max Oertel had developed.

In 1902, he was appointed in place of Julius Pagel appointed professor of history of medicine at the University of Berlin.

Schweinger married after their divorce in 1896 the wife of the painter Franz Spranger, who was friends with Otto von Bismarck since 1874.
