Ernstroda is a district of the city Friedrichroda in the Thuringian district of Gotha.

Geography

The created as a street Ernstroda village located on the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest northeast of Friedrichroda. Districts are Ernstroda and Cumbach. History

The place was first mentioned in 1200 as a possession of the monastery Reinhardsbrunn. Old spellings of the name were Erphisrot and Ersrode, the local name means roughly forests were owned and is evidence of the emergence of place as clearing settlement. Attractions
