Ernstroda is a district of the city Friedrichroda in the Thuringian district of Gotha.

Geography

The created as a street Ernstroda village located on the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest northeast of Friedrichroda. Districts are Ernstroda and Cumbach. The place is located in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park, directly at the foot of the south-west of the elevating Eichbergs ( 396.9 m above sea level. NN ). History

The place was first mentioned in 1200 as a possession of the monastery Reinhardsbrunn. Old spellings of the name were Erphisrot and Ersrode, the local name means roughly forests were owned and is evidence of the emergence of place as clearing settlement. At the beginning of the 15th century, the city was awarded the pub and brewing justice, whereupon it came to battle against the competition fearing to places Walterhausen and Friedrichsroda. Attractions
