Errett Lobban Cord

Errett Lobban Cord ( born July 20, 1894 in Warrensburg, Missouri, USA, † January 2, 1974 in Reno, Nevada) was a tycoon in U.S. transportation.

He started in Los Angeles as a car salesman and a gas station attendant. His business, he expanded by hot rods cars and sold on his own account. After further stops in Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he brought it to the top seller. In 1924 he was given the opportunity to redevelop the troubled company Auburn Automobile Company. In 1925 it belonged to him. In 1929 he founded the Cord Corporation, a holding company, which included next to Auburn and Duesenberg and Lycoming. At the end of the holding company controlled more than 150 companies, including the later American Airlines.
