ErtuÄŸrul Gazi Mosque

The Ertuğrul Gazi Mosque ( also known as Asadi mosque; Ertugrul Gazi metjidi Turkmen, Russian Мечеть Эртугрул Гази ) is a mosque in the center of the Turkmen capital Ashgabat.

It is the largest mosque in the city and named after the Turkmen clan leader Ertuğrul Gazi, the father of Osman I, who founded the Ottoman Empire. The construction of the Ertuğrul Gazi Mosque began in the 1990s when the Soviet Union of Turkmenistan became independent. 1998, the work was finally completed.

The mosque has four minarets and style is based very strongly to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. It can accommodate 5,000 worshipers.
