Erwin Janchen

Emil Erwin Alfred Ritter von Janchen -Michel ( born May 15, 1882 in Vöcklabruck; † July 10, 1970 in Vienna ) was an Austrian botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Janch. ".

Life and work

He earned his doctorate in 1923 at the University of Vienna. Scientifically, he was active in the Botanical Institute of the University. He made ​​several research trips. Among the plants first described by Janchen is also based in Austria wild form of Rübsens (Brassica rapa subsp. Silvestris, co-author here is Gustav Wendelberger ).
