Erwin Lanc

Erwin Lanc ( born May 17, 1930 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ). He was the successor of Willibald PAHR and predecessor Leopold Gratz, the ninth Secretary of the Second Republic, having previously been a member of the Federal Government as a transport and Interior Minister. Today Lanc is president of the International Institute for Peace in Vienna.

After elementary school he attended secondary school and consisted of 1948, the Matura. He then studied law at the University of Vienna. From 1949 to 1955 he was a contract agent in the Federal Ministry of Social Administration. After that, he was until 1959 the Federal Secretary of the Austrian Youth Hostel ring, then a bank clerk in the Central Savings Bank and Commercial Bank in Vienna, where he was appointed managing director of the information center for municipal financing.

In 1966 he was district chairman of the SPÖ Vienna / Margaret and state party deputy chairman of the SPÖ Vienna.

Political career

Erwin Lanc was from 1960 to 1966 Member of the Viennese state parliament and member of the Vienna City Council as well as of March 30, 1966 to 24 June 1970 and from October 19, 1970 to May 31, 1983 Member of Parliament (XI - XVI. Legislative period ).
