Erysichthon of Attica

Erysichthon (Greek Ἐρυσίχθων ) is a figure in Greek mythology.

He was the son of King Cecrops I of Athens and the Aglauros. He is said to have a wooden image of the goddess Eileithyia of the island of Delos fetched and died on the return journey during the lifetime of his father. According to Jerome, he built the Temple of Apollo on Delos. His final resting he found in the Attic Prasiai coastal town from where started the annual pilgrimage to the sanctuary of Apollo on Delos.
