Erythronium multiscapoideum

Erythronium multiscapideum is a species of the genus of the tooth lilies ( Erythronium ).

Features

The bulbs are 20 to 50 millimeters in size and ovate. The per parent onion usually one to three daughter bulbs are formed at the ends of long, slender spur. The leaves are 4 to 16 inches long. The leaf blade is more or less lanceolate and marbled with irregular brown and white lines. The leaf margin entire to wavy. The shaft is 8 to 23 inches long. The inflorescence is one to vierblütig.

The petals are 16-40 mm long and wide, lanceolate to elliptic. They are white to cream-colored, at the base they are colored yellow. The inner petals are slightly auriculate at the base. The stamens are 10 to 15 millimeters long. The stamens are less than 0.8 mm wide, linear, slender and white. The anthers are white to cream-colored. The pens are 10 to 13 millimeters long and white. The scar is unlobed or has recurved, 1-4 mm long lobes. The capsules are 2-5 inches tall and obovate.

The flowering time is in the spring from March to April.

The chromosome number is 2n = 24

Occurrence

Erythronium multiscapideum occurs in California. The species grows in open forests and overgrown with bushes slopes at altitudes of 400 to 1000 meters.
