Erythronium umbilicatum
Erythronium umbilicatum is a species of the genus of the tooth lilies ( Erythronium ).
Features
The bulbs are 10 to 25 millimeters in size and ovate. Foothills are missing or there is a per bulb available. The leaves are 5-17 inches long. The leaf blade is elliptic to ovate - lanceolate, more or less flat and green with irregular patches. The leaf margin entire. The shaft is 4 to 18 inches long. The inflorescence is flowered.
The petals are 13-30 mm long, lanceolate and yellow. There are sometimes brownish spots on the axle side facing present, the side facing away from the axis varies strongly stained brown - purple. The petals are not auriculate. The stamens are 9-18 mm long. The stamens are yellow and lanceolate. The anthers and the pollen is brown purple or rarely yellow. The pens are 8 to 24 millimeters long, more or less terete and not yellow. The scar has 1.2 to 1.7 mm long, on spreading lobes. The capsules are 10 to 22 millimeters long and egg-shaped.
The chromosome number is 2n = 24
Systematics and occurrence
There are 2 different subspecies:
- Erythronium umbilicatum subsp. umbilicatum is no foothills. The subspecies comes from West Virginia prior to Alabama, Georgia and North Florida.
- Erythronium umbilicatum subsp. monostolum forms per bulb a spur. It occurs in North Carolina and Tennessee.
