Music

In addition to the classic rock instrumentation guitar - bass - drums partly keyboards, strings and trombone can be heard, each of which was played by guest musicians. Genre default, the album is attributable to pop-rock, although the pop- component does not necessarily predominates. Thus, influences of contemporary rock music are not to be missed.

In " Catch a Wave " is attempted, the roar of waves musically implement, especially in the intro and in the middle part, where quieter in the background vocals of Eva Briegel is heard and repeated several times before they refrain the word " wave". The wave motif is also underscored by the fact that the verses sound more quiet while the chorus is implemented much more energetic. " Just before the sun " contains the only song on the album a break in style, by the style of music is in places altered to reggae and supplemented by a rap style of reggae artist Ben Robby. "If you laugh " is a very balladesque piece whose exploitation is reduced to piano and drums, the drums begin until the second verse. The very sad and gloomy and melancholy melody conveys a kind of " gloom and doom ".

Most of the songs are according to the scheme first stanza - Reconciliation - chorus - verse 2 - Reconciliation - chorus - 3rd (short and modified in tune verse ) - built chorus. Sometimes, however, the first verse is significantly longer than the second ( eg at "why" ) or there are two verses sung one after the other ( " Geile Zeit ").

Texts

Generally

The lyrics revolve mainly around the theme of love.

"Why," describes a wild night of love, " star " a lyrical I in a drunken state (" Have I drunk so much "), which has hallucinations ( "Why do you verschwimmst in the sea of stars "). In " Geile Zeit ", " tears heavy " and "November" is about love, which no longer works in " One Fine Day ", "Different" and "If you laugh " is lovesick discussed. "Rain and Sea" treated undying love, " I'm leaving " a so-called Romeo and Juliet scenario ( " They tell you, it's me not worth [ ... ] if I could I would otherwise love you " )

Only " Perfect Wave" and " Just before the sun " does not deal with the topic of love. " Catch a Wave " revolves around a chance in life that you should use after many setbacks. " Just before the sun " deals with a usually the opposite scenario, in which a supposed chance backfires.

Chance also youthful slang in the lyrics used ( "And I hope you check that it is not important " to " why", " And I finds cool to see you so " in " star ", "I could puke so, because I knows that all the time in the world is not enough "to" I'm leaving "," Yes I know it was a cool time "in" Geile Zeit ").

" Catch a Wave " and tsunami disaster

After the tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia in December 2004, when the tsunami claimed more than 280,000 lives, but most radio stations took the song immediately from the program because their opinion gathered after his text an unintended ambiguity, as in lines like the the perfect wave / this is the perfect day / let yourself simply be carried by it / do not focus on the best, or now it is slowly coming to / the water hits you in the face on you / see your life as a film of waves, the speech is. Partly, in the first days after the disaster to the fact that the song immediately after messages or calls for donations went through the transmitter. This could be understood by listeners as a deliberate sarcasm, but should mostly be caused by auto-rotation. However, the text is about a surfer who encounters a particularly suitable for surfing wave after a long wait - a metaphor for the benefit of an opportunity that arises after much futile hope. The band and their record company Universal Music sympathized with the discontinuation of the single.
