Formation
In April 2003, the band signed a record deal, after the debut album was recorded from November 2003 to January 2004. Most tracks have been recorded in Mohrmann Studio in Bochum, two titles ( and Why Geile Zeit ) in the Home Studio Hamburg.
The songs on the album, the band had already in 2001 /02 written in part, immediately after its renaming in July and the associated shift to German texts.
Title, cover and booklet
The name of the album is a line from the song "November" ( " Because it's July " ) were removed and at the same time provides a reference to the band's name dar.
The cover is held in a collage style and illustrated the album title. There are paired with red blobs to see different shades of green, which in turn represent flowers. On a larger blob in the left half of the band name is in yellow script, just below it in smaller white cursive writing the album title. On the right side you can see the heads of the band members in black-and- white photography, which is of the singer Eva Briegel more prominent and larger than those of their bandmates.
The collage style of the cover continues throughout the booklet. There are bright background colors of blue, green, yellow, red, brown, etc., paired with a colorful mix of different photos of the band members as well as graphics, the plants are supposed to represent. Also, is omitted in the entire booklet on the use of capital letters.
Sales and chart positions
It's July was the most successful album of the band. In Germany, the album reached as the best placement in the album charts in second place, was performed 74 weeks in the charts and sold around 700,000 copies. But in July received three platinum records. Also in Austria, it was in July is platinum. There was holding the album 50 weeks in the charts and was ranked as the best four charts placement. In Switzerland it reached the highest placing seventh overall and was able to keep exactly one year in the charts.
Tour
The first own tour was a club tour that July led throughout Germany in October and November 2004. The original version of the album It's July appeared in Germany on 20 September 2004. Contains twelve tracks and videos to Catch a Wave and Horny time.
On February 21 was released in 2005 in Germany a special edition of the album. This contained, in addition to the normal CD a bonus DVD containing recorded in Vienna live versions of three songs ( November, Catch a Wave and I disappear ), a documentary about the club tour in the fall of 2004 as well as a slideshow with unpublished photos.
Music
In addition to the classic rock instrumentation guitar - bass - drums partly keyboards, strings and trombone can be heard, each of which was played by guest musicians. Genre default, the album is attributable to pop-rock, although the pop- component does not necessarily predominates. Thus, influences of contemporary rock music are not to be missed.

The lyrics revolve mainly around the theme of love.

" Catch a Wave " and tsunami disaster
