Once upon a time ... is a late romantic opera in three acts and a prologue by Alexander Zemlinsky. The premiere took place on 22 January 1900 the Court Opera in Vienna under the composer's direction. The piece lasts about 2.5 hours and takes place in a fictional fairy tale world of the High Middle Ages
