Esa Keskinen

Esa Juhani Keskinen ( born February 3, 1965 in Ylöjärvi ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player who played from 1983 to 2000 for TPS Turku and Rauma Lukko in the SM- liiga and Elitserien HV71 in the.

Career

Esa Keskinen began his career as a hockey player with TPS Turku for which he was in the SM- liiga, the top division in Finland, active from 1983 to 1988. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1985 in the fifth round as a total 101 players from the Calgary Flames for which, however, he never played. He then moved to the league rivals Lukko Rauma, for which he went hunting for goals three years. In the summer of 1991, Keskinen returned to his former club TPS Turku, for the SM- liiga in the next three years he was on the ice and in which he Finnish Champion in 1994 and was named the best player in the league for the first time in 1993. Prior to the 1994/95 season Keskinen has been contracted by HV71 of the Swedish Elitserien. During his first and only stay abroad Keskinen 1995 with HV71 Swedish champion and he received the 1996 Guldhjälmen as the best player of the season.

After five years in Sweden Keskinen returned to TPS Turku, where he ended his career after the 1999/2000 season.

Internationally

For Finland took Keskinen at the Junior World Championships in 1984 and 1985 as well as the A World Championships in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1994, 1995 and 1996 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of Finland at the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 and 1994 in Lillehammer.
