Escape distance

As a flight distance of that minimum distance is called, the one animal to another, potentially threatening creatures comply without it flees before the possible attacker. Animals with a large flight distance are colloquially as " shy ".

The flight distance is usually a part of the innate escape behavior. However, it can be adapted by experience, for example by mimicking the behavior of older animals of the same species, to the life circumstances of a particular area. For example, learn wild rabbits in densely populated areas quickly that by the leash, so running next to a man dogs usually not dangerous for them to be released ( National Park effect).

The domestication of animals regularly leads to a reduction in flight distance before humans and other animals, as all strongly aligned oriented individuals are rapidly breeding groups lost.
