Locherhof

In the late Middle Ages Locherhof was first mentioned in 1326 and that as a fief of the Rottenmünster. This had the control and military sovereignty. Since 1591 Locherhof subordinate to the Lower Court District Book Mountain ( King Field ). This also belonged to the courts Moenchhof and Mühllehen. Mariazell

Mariazell - the place is first attested late medieval - said to have been in 1275 as Cella Mary ( cell of Mary ) was founded by Constance Reichenau monastery. The age of the place remains beside its early history, however, largely unclear. 1444 is Mariazell, then a " small town ", been destroyed in at this time quite frequent feuds between rich cities and noble families. Mariazell burned down in 1507, destroyed by fire in 1704 and again in 1633 again destroyed by fire. But the place has obviously retained its central function. The latter is still symbolized by the impressive parish church with the equally mighty church tower.

A relative indication of the age of Mariazell give St. Mark's Church and steeple in the town center. Especially the mighty church tower with a " substantive originality " is impressive. The temporal layers Mariazell story between Romanesque and Renaissance can be read to him. The two lower storeys of the tower - barely broken - are late Romanesque, built of red sandstone and sometimes provided with stone marks. The conclusion that the lower tower section, four gargoyles, placed at each of the four corners to complete the edges of the lower part of the tower at the top and begin the transition to the octagonal central block. This Gothic- style two octagonal floors contain two sets of eight Gothic tracery windows. The tower is crowned by a stone dome, whose rounding with its eight ridges receives the octagonal central building of the tower. Middle and dome are provided with the years 1609 and 1608 as well as the initials of a builder VR.

Next to the tower, the nave of the church nave is to be noted that opens in a tower choir. In line with the lower floors of the tower dates back to the chorus of late Romanesque period and is provided with a ribbed vault. In the next room of the ( present ) baptistery is a late Gothic vaulting has received on short- Romanesque columns. In the church, the Gothic figures of a standing Virgin and St. Catherine can be seen, early baroque is the crucifixion scene at the end wall of the choir; from 1706 comes the baptismal font dating from around 1780, the statue of St. John Nepomuk. On the outer wall of the sacristy finally today is a more antique -looking as Christian men head to find.
