Geography

Geographical Location

Ash is on the Vecht between Nordhorn and Emlichheim. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde New house, which has its headquarters in the city of New House.

History

The peasantry was first mentioned under its original name asci in a document from the year 1000. There you will also find information about the oldest settlement - the house ash, also called Oedinghof. To 1411 the peasantry came to the parish Veldhausen.

The Escher council is made up of two council women and seven councilors who were last elected in the municipal elections of Lower Saxony in 2011. These have formed a joint election list.
