Eschede (Samtgemeinde)

The Samtgemeinde Eschede was a community association in the district of Celle in Lower Saxony. She was lying in one of the most sparsely populated areas of West Germany. Two thirds of its area was forest.

The integrated municipality consisted of the four member municipalities Eschede, Habighorst, Höfer and Scharnhorst.

On January 1, 2014, the resolution of the velvet municipality Eschede was with its member municipalities and for the formation of a unified community Eschede.

History

1967 Samtgemeinde Eschede was created. She was the first in the district of Celle and originally next Eschede from the places Dalle and Weyhausen. In its present form the Municipality finally emerged in 1973 as part of the completion of the Lower Saxon regional reform. However, there were, especially in the mining- dominated community Höfer strong resistance against Conversely My Dung.

In the summer of 1975, the large-scale forest and heath fires excited in the Samtgemeinde Germany -wide attention (see also: Fire on the Lüneburg Heath ).

Once again, the headlines got the Municipality, as on June 3, 1998, the ICE misfortune of Eschede occurred, in which 101 people lost their lives. The ICE " Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen" was derailed and raced against a bridge. Trigger for the disaster was a cracked wheel rim. In this situation, the population Eschedes however, was also known by their overwhelming willingness to help spontaneously the face of adversity.

2008 it was announced that Aces had been filled within the integrated municipality, in the abandoned pits of the salt mine Mariaglück of Höfer, for years with radioactive tritium offset liquor from the nuclear plant.

The DRC operated four kindergartens in the integrated municipality. In addition to two modern facilities in place Eschede, including a full-day kindergarten with care, and more are to be found in Höfer and Scharnhorst.
