The Eschenbeek near the Florastraße

The source of Eschenbeek north of the Wilhelm- Raabe - path

The Eschenbeek is a 1.377 km long river in the city of Wuppertal District Uellendahl Katernberg and a right tributary of the Mirker Bach. For the name of the watercourse tautology Eschenbeeker Bach is also frequently used ( Beek is the Low German word for " brook" ).

Etymology

The Eschenbeek is named after an ancient place name, 1537 " Esch Bicker Hoeffstadt " was mentioned. To " ash ", there are two interpretations, once after the tree species Ash ( likely), on the other hand by a fenced- seed field or fields. These were built at the same time and harvested or used as a fallow field.

A Eschenbeeker Street (formerly only Eschenbeek ) is first described in the address book of 1850. It runs on the northeastern slope of Dorrenbergs.

Topography

The creek rises to about 257 meters above sea level on the Wuppertal North Downs at the Wilhelm- Raabe - way, a side street of Grove Street, approximately 130 meters east of a former nursery.

The creek flows in a south-southeast direction, and joins after about 490 meters with an unnamed, 154 -meter-long water from the right. 700 meters after the source pushes the 623 -meter-long flora stream piped from the left on the Eschenbeek. After another 140 meters, you come from the right 688 meters long unspeakable feed added.

After the stream has passed through a small garden at the foot of Dorrenbergs, he runs some 1,150 meters to the source close to the Teschemacher road piped on and leads by about 220 meters to approximately 177 meters in the Mirker stream, which in turn flows into the Wupper.
