Escuintla is a municipality in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is situated on the edge of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. The name comes from the Nahuatl Escuintla and means " place of the dogs ."

This municipality has about 30,000 inhabitants and an area of 418.4 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same Escuintla.

The municipality borders the municipalities of Escuintla Siltepec, Motozintla, Huixtla, Villa Comaltitlán, Acapetahua and Acacoyagua.
