Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei
Esfandiar Rahim Maschaie, Esfandiar Rahim also Mashai (* 1960 in the village Maschakalayeh in Ramsar, Iran) (Persian اسفندیار رحیم مشایی ), is an Iranian politician. In the cabinet I Ahmadinejad he was Vice President of Culture and Tourism. In July 2009 he was nominated as First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran at short notice. He is considered a close associate, friend and advisor to the Iranian President.
Life
Maschaie studied electrical engineering up to the bachelor's degree at the Technical University of Isfahan. Beginning of the 1980s began Maschaie his career as a member of the secret Sepah in the Iranian province of Māzandarān. Vice President of Culture and Tourism

First Vice-President
On 17 July 2009 Maschaie was appointed by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as First Vice President. He replaced Parviz Dawoodi. The appointment sparked large protests in the conservative camp.
