Esfenvalerate is an active ingredient for plant protection and a chemical compound from the group of nitriles and pyrethroids.

Production and representation

Esfenvalerate can be obtained from 4- chlorotoluene by the same multi-stage production process, such as fenvalerate, starting, with ethyl bromide is used instead of isopropyl bromide.

Properties

Esfenvalerate is a colorless solid from the group of pyrethroids and extremely toxic to fish.

Use

Esfenvalerate is used as an insecticide with contact and stomach action in plant protection in fruit, vegetable and field. It is the most effective of the four isomers of the racemic fenvalerate and is marketed under the trade name Asana XL or Sumicidin Alpha EC to the market.

In Germany is a Sumicidin with Alpha EC, in Austria three ( under similar names) and in Switzerland is not a pesticide approved, containing the active substance.
