Eshetu Tura

Eshetu Tura ( born January 19, 1950) is a retired Ethiopian long-distance runner, who was especially successful in the obstacle course.

The greatest success of his career, he celebrated at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. There he took the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a personal best of 8:13,57 min the bronze medal behind Bronisław Malinowski and Filbert Bayi.

Other medals won at Tura Athletics Championships Africa. 1979 in Dakar, he finished second in the steeplechase, 1982 in Cairo, he won the steeplechase and finished about 5000 m the second rank. He also recorded four times between 1981 and 1984 participated in World Cross Country Championships. He won every time with Ethiopia the team standings. His best individual finish was sixth place in 1982 in Rome.

Eshetu Tura is 1,79 m tall and had a competition weight of 66 kg. After his retirement he worked as a coach, most recently at the Alfa Athletics Club in Ethiopia.
