Esko Prague

The Esko Prague ( in German-speaking part, colloquially referred to as S -Bahn Prague ) is a rail-based transport modes of public transport in Prague and in the greater Prague Region of Central Bohemia. It is operated by the Czech Railways since the timetable change on December 9, 2007. The lines are marked with the letter "S". In addition, there are in the power integrated express services, which only stop at major stations and are marked with the letter "R". The system corresponds to the usual in German-speaking countries S -Bahn systems. About the transport network PID ( Pražská Integrovaná doprava ) is a common tariff with the Transport Company of Prague and the Regional buses to Prague environs. Some routes (S11, S23, S3, R3, S40, S43, S44, S45, S5, R5, S50, S6, S60, S65, S75, S76, S8, S80, S88) are not electrified.

Rolling stock

Electric railcar

On electrified lines, the series 471 ( City Elephant) as well as the older 451 series is employed. Both were built for use as a commuter train and facilitate quick boarding and alighting at stations and short travel times.

DMUs

On the non-electrified lines diesel railcars of series 814 " Regionova ", 854 and 809 are used. These are partly outdated.

Important stations

Praha Masarykovo nádraží

The Masaryk railway station is the only railway terminus in Prague. This is the end of the four Esko- lines. The train station is within walking distance to the city center. There are migration options to the station Namesti Republiky metro line B to tram and bus lines.

Praha hlavní nádraží

The main railway station is the main train station of the city. Here also operate three of the Esko- lines. There are connections for the metro - line C and also to tram and bus lines.

Praha -Smíchov

The station is located in the southwest of the city. Here offers connecting flights to the subway station Smíchovské nádrazí of Metro Line B. The station is an important station for trains to Beroun and Pilsen.

Praha- Vršovice

The station is located on the south eastern access route to the main station in the same district. Of the three lines serving this station, two end here. Again, there are interchanges to bus and tram lines.

Praha- Holešovice

The station had, until recently, of particular importance in the long-distance traffic, as it spojení before completion of the Nové due to its favorable position instead of the main railway station of the continuous international long-distance trains on the north- south route (Berlin- Dresden- Prague - Brno to Vienna or Bratislava and Budapest) was approached.
