Espen Lind

Espen Lind ( born May 13, 1971 in Oslo) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and producer.

Life

Lind was born the son of a violinist in Oslo. His mother brought him from an early age with the music in touch. At the age of seven he began piano lessons. With 16 Lind worked in a recording studio in Oslo and had so early an opportunity to integrate their own songs. He taught himself guitar and drums game at 17, and attended with a music college to study composition and arrangement. Lind went in 1994 to Los Angeles in the hope of a record deal. Since this company proved to be unsuccessful, Lind, in 1995 alone, a single on which he, the (then) CEO of the record company Universal Music sent Doug Morris. He was taken immediately after an interview under contract.

Career

Espen Lind released his first solo album, Mmm ... Prepare To Be Swayed 1995 the record label MCA Norway under the artist name Sway. It was only released in Norway and sold there 5000 times, but got great reviews. Lind was praised for his songwriting qualities and for the fact that he had played every instrument in the recording itself. Lind was known in 1997 with his song When Susannah Cries and outside of Norway. In the video, he was seen together with the Baywatch actress Angelica Bridges. The song came from his second album Red, which he brought out again under his pseudonym and a second time as Espen Lind. The song was a top 5 hit in various European and Latin American countries, including Norway, where the song stopped for six weeks at No. 1. It was also the most played song of 1997 on Norwegian radio. Red sold more than 100,000 copies in Norway alone, there were over 600,000 copies worldwide. Lind was charged with three Spellemannprisen ( the Norwegian Grammy ) and others awarded in the category Artist of the Year.

2000 Lind published his third album, This Is Pop Music and the resulting coupled- Singles Black Sunday and Life Is Good. The album was also a duet Where The Lost Ones Go find with the Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø. In Norway, the album was certified gold, was still regarded as a total disappointment over its predecessors. After a four year break, during which he wrote for other artists, Lind released a new single Unloved, with again, he managed a number 1 hit in Norway, and a short time later released his fourth album April in December 2004.

In 2006 he published with the young Norwegian artists Kurt Nilsen, Alejandro Fuentes and Holm Askil an album titled Hallelujah Live, which has so far been published only in Norway. Parallel to this live album there was a live DVD with the same title. # 1 on the Norwegian charts had them safely with the single release Hallelujah.

In May 2008 his new single Scared Of Heights, which again reached # 1 on the charts and sold 50,000 copies with platinum in Norway appeared. His fifth solo album shortly thereafter posted to Army Of One could be placed at the top of the Norwegian album chart and reached far over 23,000 copies sold double platinum in Norway.

Writer and producer

Espen Lind has had much success as a songwriter and producer. One of the most famous pieces is Irreplaceable by Beyoncé. The single spent 10 weeks at the top of the U.S. charts. Together with his partner Amund Bjørklund he also wrote and produced songs for Jessica Simpson, Elliott Yamin and Take That singer Mark Owen, as well as some Norwegian artists. 2012 was another great success for him as music author: Song Drive By by Train.
