Esprit Requien

Esprit Requiems ( born May 6, 1788 in Avignon, † May 30 1851 in Bastia, Corsica ), was a French botanist, paleontologist and malacologist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Req. ".

Life and work

He was primarily involved with the flora of the south of France and Corsica. Over 100 original descriptions come from his hand. A plant genus Requienia ( legumes ) and a species of animal Requienia ( molluscs) have been named after him.
