Esselte

The Esselte Group, with headquarters in the U.S. Stamford, Connecticut, is a leading manufacturer of office products with annual sales of about 1.2 billion U.S. dollar company with operations in 27 countries. The company employs approximately 5,000 people worldwide. Esselte sells more than 30,000 different office supplies in more than 120 countries. The main brands are Esselte, Leitz, Oxford, Pendaflex, Rapid and Xyron.

History

1913, 13 independent Swedish companies in the graphic area to SLT ( Sveriges Litografiska Tryckerier ) joined together. Through numerous acquisitions, the company grew and was soon offering products based on the material on paper. In the 60s, SLT consisted of a number of business areas have become unmanageable, so you start 1964 with a drastic restructuring. Similar divisions were merged and unprofitable company sells.

On August 1, 1970, the group changed its name to Esselte ( eSeLTe ) and begins to focus on office products. In 2002, the U.S. private equity investment company acquires JW Childs 97 % of the voting shares of Esselte AG. 2005 sold the Esselte DYMO labeling company to Newell Rubbermaid, a global marketer of consumer and commercial products, for approximately $ 730 million. With the income from the sale Esselte wanted to eliminate debt and focus more on the areas of planning systems, office supplies and Art Crafts Supplies.
