Essert-Pittet

Essert- Pittet is a municipality in the district of Jura-Nord Vaudois in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Essert- Pittet is on 450 m above sea level. M., 7 km southwest of the district capital Yverdon- les- Bains ( straight line ). The scattered village extends slightly increased on the eastern edge of the Orbeebene, at the foot of the northern slopes of the plateau of Gros de Vaud, in the Vaud Mittelland.

The area of ​​2.8 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the northern Vaud Mittelland. The communal land extends from the flat Orbeebene (435 m above sea level. M. ) eastward, even to the wooded slopes of the Côtes de Chalamont. Here is 569 m above sea level. M. reached the highest point of Essert- Pittet. Population

With 146 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Essert- Pittet one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Vaud. Of the 86.4% inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 4.8 % and 3.2 % in English (as of 2000). The population of Essert- Pittet amounted in 1850 to 124 residents in 1900 to 123 inhabitants. After the population had decreased in the meantime to 95 inhabitants ( 1980), a slight increase in population was registered again since then.

Economy

Essert- Pittet was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, agriculture (especially growing vegetables ) and fruit production have an important role in the economic structure of the population. Previously, there was also something viticulture. Some other jobs are in the local retail industry and the services available. In recent decades, Essert- Pittet has also developed into a residential community. Many employed persons are therefore commuters who work mainly in Yverdon.

Traffic

The community is easily accessible via. It lies on the old main road from Yverdon Chavornay. The motorway connection Chavornay at the 1981 opened A1 (Lausanne -Yverdon ) that crosses the municipality, around 3 km from the town center. History

The area of Essert- Pittet was crossed into the Roman period of a road in the area Entreroches to Yverdon. From this period coins and bricks were found. Attractions

The Church of Essert- Pittet was rebuilt in 1746. In the village some typical farmhouses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved.
