Esserval -Combe is a village in the French Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Esserval -Combe is located on 755 m above sea level. M., about twelve kilometers northeast of the city Champagnole (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, in a small valley on the northern edge of the Val de Mièges, the headwaters of the Ruisseau du Gouffre de l' Houle.

History

First mentioned is the place in the 13th century under the name Essard -à- Moine. After the population had been decimated by a plague epidemic in 1348, the town that now belonged to the reign Nozeroy were granted certain liberties in 1350 to promote the repopulation of the area. Together with the Franche -Comté came Esserval -Combe with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Population
