Essex (pig)

The Essex Pig is an almost extinct breed of pigs from England.

Breeding history

In the belief that the old breed Essex Pig from Essex in England had completely dissolved in the race Wessex Pig to form the breed British Saddleback, the Essex pig was declared extinct in 1967.

The farmer John Crowshaw, however, had refused to interlace his Essex - herd, so to save this ancient breed. Today tried James Doherty of Jimmy 's Farm, set up the race again. The last Essex - pigs can be seen in: Rozel Bay, Les Ormes Golf Club.
