The Estadi Municipal de Montilivi is the municipal football stadium in the Spanish city of Girona. Girona is located in the northeast of the autonomous region of Catalonia on the eastern tip of Spain. The Girona FC receives his opponents here in the venue.

History

At the beginning of the 1967/68 season, it was decided to build a new football stadium. On August 14, 1970, then the grand opening. For the inauguration of the sports facility of FC Barcelona was a match against FC Girona guest and Barça won 3-1. At the match, 25,000 spectators gathered in the new building. In the following days was held for the first time the Trofeo Costa Brava, this competition takes place almost a year until today. In the semi-final games Borussia Neunkirchen and FC Valencia and Espanyol Barcelona clashed on the Argentine club San Lorenzo de Almagro. San Lorenzo won the final against Neunkirchen 5-0.

Except for a portion of the grandstand, the stadium is unüberdacht. Until the 2009/10 season the plant took approximately 10,000 spectators; mostly standing room. The League dressing Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (LFP ) called for some improvements to the stadium.
