The Estadio Nemesio Camacho ( also known as " El Campin " known) is a football stadium in the Colombian capital Bogota. The stadium is owned by the city and is managed by the Instituto de Distrital Recreación y Deporte ( IDRD ) (German: Institute for Recreation and Sport) managed. The stadium has 40,312 seats in the stands.

History

The idea to build the stadium goes back to the former Mayor of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, who suggested in 1934 to build a sports facility for the 400th anniversary of the city foundation and the Bolivarian Games in 1938. Luis Camacho Matiz donated the land for the construction of the stadium available. The stadium was named after his father, the politician and businessman Nemesio Camacho. The opening and the first game in the stadium with a capacity of 10,000 seats was held on August 10, 1938 instead of between Colombia and Ecuador and ended 1:2 for the guests. 1948 increased the capacity to 23,500 spectators. The next building work was carried out from 1950 to 1951. We have added the North and the South Stand at the stadium. On July 20, 1951, the re-opening was celebrated with two international matches between Uruguay and Argentina, as well as the encounter Colombia and Paraguay. In 1969, the expansion of the sports facility to 62,500 seats and the establishment of a scoreboard was terminated after one year of construction.

Events

In addition to playing the CD Los Millonarios ( since 1938 ), Santa Fe CD ( since 1951 ) and the Colombian national football team qualifying tournaments were held for Olympic football tournaments in 1968, 1972 and 1980. The match for third place and the final of the Copa America 2001 were held in the stadium of Bogotá; were further four games of the Copa América 1975 held in " El Campin ".
