The Estadio El Madrigal is the football stadium of the Spanish football club Villarreal. The "yellow " stadium was inaugurated in 1923 and is located on the Plaza Labrador in the town of Villarreal. It is located in a parallel line to the Mediterranean Sea and is 50 meters above the sea level. Currently it has a capacity of 22,000 visitors.

History

The inauguration

El Madrigal was inaugurated on 17 June 1923 under the name Campo del Villarreal. In 1925, two years later, it received its present name El Madrigal. Madrigal was the original name for the rural area, on which the stadium was built. The expansions of the stadium

In the summer of 1952, the stadium was expanded for the first time. At the time, the Olympic Stadium Helsinki was a standard gauge for all football stadiums in the world, and so does the pitch of the El Madrigal of 95 x 50 meters to 104 x 65 meters was enlarged.

For the 75th anniversary of the club work started to make the last and most important changes to date again. The South Stand was demolished on 22 March 1998, a new covered grandstand, the Amphitheatertreppen, the VIP area and the North Stand was built. Before the season 1999/2000 this development work has been completed.

Floodlights

The first floodlit was built in 1973 in order to deliver games in the evening can. The club got from the city for financial assistance, to build four metal supports with nine halogen lamps at the corners of the stadium. Changing rooms

The dressing rooms changed over the years her stand four times. In the first twelve years, the cabins were in the south-eastern part of the stadium. The stadium offers more genteel viewers 30 so-called " Casals Grocs " ( German yellow boxes). It involves special yellow boxes with air conditioning, TV with live broadcast of the match, buffet, individual seats, free access to the South Stand by high-speed lifts and on-site parking for VIP guests. Two of the 30 boxes hold 12 people, 23 offer for 16 spectators and the remaining five are equipped with 20 seats.
