Excursions

In Estergebirge both summer and winter tours are possible. Two DAV cabins are located in this mountainous region. The Weilheim hut on Krottenkopf, is an important starting point for the tours. The Wankhaus located in the immediate vicinity of the Wankbahn.

A worthwhile tour goes to the Hoher Fricken Kuhfluchtfall, one can see beautiful Farchant from. The creek originates in the middle of a vertical cliff in thick beam ( weather permitting). There one can also observe a slow landslide, whose movement is measured by geologists by means of lasers based on anchored in rock measuring points for years. For laymen sign clearly visible is a " drunken forest " (which are in different directions inclined trees), which is caused by movements of the slope.

When using public transport are interesting crossings and transgressions possible (train stations in Ohlstadt, Eschenlohe, Oberau, Farchant, Garmisch -Partenkirchen, Klais; bus route Kochel am See- Walchensee Wallgau ).
