Esthal

Esthal ( Palatine: Eschdl ) is a municipality in the district of Bad Durkheim in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Lambrecht (Pfalz ). Esthal is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

The municipality is located on a plateau in the Palatinate Forest. To Esthal includes the residential places Breitenstein, Erfenstein, Esthal forest house and saddle mill.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1380 as " Estall ". He stood up in 1794 under the rule of the Lords of Erfenstein who had their headquarters in the nearby castle.

Religionn

2013 were 66 percent of the population Catholic and 18 percent Protestant. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.

The blazon of the arms is: "Under a silver shield head in a floating black ball- studded golden Tatzenkreuz ".

It was approved by the 1954 Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Interior and goes back to a court seal from 1772.

Culture and sights

  • On the outskirts ( Klosterstr. 60) is the monastery of St. Mary of the Sisters of the Divine Savior low Bronner, which was built from 1951 to 1959 and acts as the provincial mother house. The building was designed by architect Henry Hebgen (Ludwigshafen), dedicated the church on March 7, 1959.
