Estonian Air is an airline based in Tallinn, Estonia and based at the airport Tallinn Lennart Meri.

History

The national airline of Estonia was founded shortly after the regained independence of Estonia as a state corporation on December 1, 1991. Since 1995, the Russian aircraft were gradually replaced by Boeing 737-500, the transition to Western-built aircraft was completed in 1996 with the leasing of two Fokker 50 of Maersk Air. In April 2006, the fleet was reinforced by a Boeing 737-300. This plane had 142 seats and flew previously for Air New Zealand.

The national airline was privatized in 1996 by the Estonian state. The proportions of 66 % to 49% were sold to the Danish airline Maersk Air and 17 % of the Estonian investment company AS Cresco. Since 2003 SAS Scandinavian Airlines Estonian Air is involved in 49%.

On March 6, 2008, the subsidiary company Estonian Air Regional, initially with two Saab 340A took its flight operations on regional lines.

By the end of 2012, the last Boeing 737 left the fleet of Estonian Air in April 2013, the Saab 340, which were operated until then under the now discontinued subsidiary brand Estonian Air Regional followed.

For November 27, 2013 Estonian Air cancel all contracts with Air Lituanica due to unpaid bills. Until then, Estonian operating an Embraer 170 for the newly established Lithuanian society.

Destinations

As of April 2013 Estonian Air flies from their home base in Tallinn to Amsterdam, Brussels, Kiev, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Paris, Nice, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Trondheim and Vilnius. Some goals - including Hanover, London and Riga - were set in the past.
