Ethel Lackie

Ethel Lackie Watkins ( born February 10, 1907 in Chicago, † December 15, 1979 in Newbury Park, California ) was an American swimmer.

She was the first swimmer, who swam about 100 yards under a minute. It improved the world record equal to about 3 seconds. At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, she was Olympic champion over 100 m freestyle and the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. In 1969, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
