Ethnobotany

Ethnobotany is the science of study of Plants (Botany ) with respect to its use by the people: as crops as Medicine ( Ethno pharmacy, herbal medicine ) and Customs, particularly in pre-industrial societies.

Task

Purpose of ethnobotany is the discovery and exploration for the people of valuable materials / plants, but is also dedicated to the tasks of nutrition, biochemistry, health and other vital qualities of human life in terms of botany. They therefore used both methods of botany as ethnology.

The term ethnobotany was first used in 1895 by the American botanist John William Harshberger ( 1869-1929 ).
