EToys.com was one of the first online retailer of games and toys. After the bankruptcy of the company, the same site was repeatedly resold and finally acquired by the toy retailer Toys " R " Us 2009.

History

The company was founded in 1997 and went public in 1999 at the time of the dotcom boom in the stock market. Short term was eToys industry leader in online toys trading, reaching a market capitalization of almost 10 billion U.S. dollars. In toywar eToys was forced by online activists in the dispute with the artist group etoy to the rights to the domain name to give etoy.com.
