Etroubles

Étroubles is an Italian municipality with 509 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley. The municipality is situated on the left bank of the Dora Baltea to an average height of 1280 m slm and has an area of 39 km ².

The neighboring communities are called Alone, Bourg -Saint -Pierre ( Switzerland ), Doues Gignod, Ollomont and Saint- Oyen.

Étroubles is on the road to the great Saint Bernard. Already in the 12th century parish church is mentioned in Étroubles. The Tour de Vachéry ( a tower ) also dates from this century.

In Étroubles François- Nestor Adam (1903-1990) was born, until 1977 the Roman Catholic bishop in the diocese of Sion was from 1952.

During the Fascist period it received the Italianate name Étroble.

The place is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
