Etting

Etting is a commune with 761 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

Etting is located in the west of the country Bitscher, in the canton of Rohrbach -lès -Bitche, in a tributary to the brook surrounded by orchards. West of the town of Kesten mountain rises. South borders the district of Schmittviller to the southwest Kalhausen. In the west and north is to the longest Achen district boundary, the west, the Ache determined the borders. Eastern Neighbouring places are Bining and Rahling.

History

Even when he was first mentioned in 1391 Etting its present name. From 1811 to 1833 the site of the municipality Achen was attached. During World War II he was mostly spared from destruction.

Culture and sights

Since Etting was spared during World War II by larger destruction, a number of sizable Lorraine farm houses have been preserved, as in the town center which was built in 1731 by Nicolas Freyermuth and Anna Müller estate. Numerous Lorraine crosses can be found in the district, a particularly notable from 1817 to the east of the settlement on the way to Mohrenhof where the old way of Achen crosses for Rahlinger Altkirchel and that branches off to the Kalhausen. The main character of this cross is the St. Barbara at her side presumably of St. Francis and St. Anton. The district border to Rahling corresponds to the course of an old Roman road from the here and there are found traces.
