ETV (Ethiopia)

Ethiopian Television ( ETV; Amharic የኢትዮጵያ ቴሌቪዥን - ኢቴቪ ) is an Ethiopian television station, operated by the Ethiopian government. Together with Radio Ethiopia ETV is the Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency ( ERTA; Amharic የኢትዮጵያ ሬድዮና ቴሌቪዥን ድርጅት - ኢሬቴድ ). Due to the legal ban of private media, it is the only national television networks. Is sent in the Ethiopian languages ​​Amharic, Oromo and Tigrinya, Somali and Afar and in English and Arabic.

History

Ethiopian Television was launched in 1964 with support from the (then) British company Thomson. Reason for this was a Congress of the Organization of African Unity (OAU ), which was held in Addis Ababa in the same year. Broadcast in color there since 1982.

Program

The program includes news, sports, music and various entertainment programs, such as Ethiopian Idol Ethiopian counterpart to American Idol ( American Idol in Germany ).
