The Etzel Pass is a pass in the Swiss canton of Schwyz, which leads from Pfäffikon to Einsiedeln. The pass is at 950 m elevation below the Etzel. The length of the pass road from Pfäffikon to Einsiedeln is 12 kilometers. Part of the road is also hiking trail and the road profile is dimensioned for local traffic - for through traffic that is not suitable.

At the summit are named after Meinrad of Einsiedeln Chapel of St. Meinrad and a guest house. You are on the pilgrimage route of the Camino, which continues from the Zurich Oberland, over the Etzelpass to Einsiedeln pilgrimage site and from there to the northern Spanish town of Santiago de Compostela.

The Etzel chapel is first mentioned in the 13th century. 1698 has been canceled and rebuilt according to plans by Caspar Moosbrugger. The plasterwork created Pietro Neuroni from Lugano, the frescoes of Francesco Antonio Giorgioli from Meride. In 1960, the chapel was restored and placed under the protection of the Swiss Confederation. The last renovation took place in the years 2010 to 2011.

The original wooden pilgrim house dates back to the 14th century. After a fire tonight's guest house was built in 1759 according to plans by brother Kaspar Brown, who also built the stables in Einsiedeln. In 1983 the building was thoroughly restored.
