Eucumbene River

The Eucumbene River is a river in the Australian state of New South Wales, and rises in the northern part of the Kosciuszko National Park. The river flows south into Lake Eucumbene, the largest reservoir in the Snowy Mountains Hydro - system. Below the dam for the river valley further to the former mouth of the Snowy River, which is located in Lake Jindabyne today.

In spring, the melting snow around Kiandra, a gold rush town of the 19th century in New South Wales, the river feeds. The source is located in the National Park and is fairly well protected from human intervention. Only the Snowy Mountains Highway crosses the catchment area.
