Eugen Slutsky

Evgeny Slutsky (Russian: Евгений Евгеньевич Слуцкий, scientific transliteration Evgenij Evgen'evič Sluckij, often in the German language also Eugenius Slutsky or English Evgeny Slutsky Evgenievich; * 7 Apriljul / April 19 1880greg in Nowoje (now the Yaroslavl Oblast ). ., russian Empire, † 10 March 1948 in Moscow, USSR ) was a russian- Ukrainian mathematician and economist.

Slutsky studied mathematics at the University of Kiev. During his studies he stayed in Munich. From 1913 to 1926 he taught at the Kiev Commercial Institute. Then he moved to Moscow, where he held various positions.

Slutsky first became known in the microeconomics for its Slutsky decomposition with great delay in the thirties of the last century, since the original publication was hardly linguistically accessible on the Italian leading contemporary economists; in probability theory, he has become known for its Slutsky theorem.
