Eugène Bozza

Eugène Joseph Bozza ( born April 4, 1905 in Nice, † September 28, 1991 in Valenciennes ) was a French composer.

Life

Eugène Bozza, son of an Italian who studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and graduated in 1924 in the violin, 1930 in conducting and in composition from 1934. Also in 1934, he was honored with the prestigious Prix de Rome with his cantata " Légende de Roukmani ". 1939 to 1948 he was conductor at the Opéra Comique in Paris, then director of the Conservatory in Valenciennes until 1975. Bozza wrote numerous works for chamber music, especially for woodwinds.

Most chamber music works were written in the mid- 1950s, when Bozza was director of the Conservatory of Valenciennes. In his work again and again sound impressions on the landscape of Provence.
