Eugène Manuel

Eugène Manuel ( born July 13, 1823 in Paris, † June 1, 1901 ) was a French pedagogue, writer and politician.

Life

Manuel came from a Jewish family and was the son of a doctor. After his education at a École normale ( College of Education ) Manuel was a lecturer in rhetoric at various schools for several years; inter alia, in Dijon and Paris. After the political unrest beginning of 1848 he got a permanent position at the Lycée Janson de Sailly in his native town.

Politically interested and engaged, Manuel also made a political career. During the war, Manuel worked in the City Council and after the war he was promoted in September 1871 Minister Jules Simon Chef de Cabinet. Two years later he was appointed to the " Inspecteur de l' Académie " and the height of his career he reached in 1878 with the appointment as " Inspecteur général de l'instruction publique ".

Parallel to this, Manuel was able to make a name as a writer over time. Today it is one of him with the environment of the Parnassian.

Six weeks before his 78th birthday died Eugène Manuel on June 1, 1901 in Paris.
