Eugene O'Neill Award

The O'Neill Scholarship is a Swedish theater award, which was sponsored by the American playwright Eugene O'Neill.

Shortly before his death he bequeathed the performance rights to the unpublished piece Long Day's Journey into Night ( Long Day 's Journey Into Night ) the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. His widow was added still more pieces to the condition to be financed from revenues earned a scholarship for high theater actor. The award is made by the State Theatre. Reason was gratitude for the early and sustained appreciation of his work by the Swedes.

In 1956 the premiere of Long Day 's Journey Into Night, and with the first awarding of the prize, the lead actor Lars Hanson and Inga Tidblad were considered.
