Eugenio Canfari

Eugenio Canfari ( born October 16, 1878 in Genoa, † 23 March 1962 in Turin ) was an Italian football functionary and entrepreneurs.

Life

Eugenio Canfari was born on 16 October 1878 in Genoa. His father was later owner of a bicycle shop in Turin. 1897 belonged Canfari together with his older brother Enrico in a group of 13 students of the Turin Massimo d'Azeglio - Gymnasium, which founded the football club Juventus on 1 November 1897. First seat of the club was his father's bicycle shop on the Corso Re Umberto 42 Eugenio Canfari was elected the first president of the club and held this office until his replacement in 1898 by his brother held.

After he retired from football and founded in 1902 in Turin, together with Giuseppe Alby and Francesco Darbesio the carmaker Società di Fabbrica Automobili Taurinia which existed until 1907, and for which he also denied automobile race.

Eugenio Canfari died on 23 March 1962 at the age of 83 years in Turin.
